CNB New Plants and Ashiro Gentians sign contract in Japan
CNB New Plants, a subdivision of CNB, has recently signed a contract with Ashiro Rindo (Gentians). The contract concerns the testing and market introduction of a new line of potted Gentianas by CNB New Plants.
Representing Ashiro Rindo was breeder Takashi Takagin, also director of Hachimantai City Floricultural Research and Development Center. A formal meeting was organised at the town hall in Hachimantai City. The papers were officially signed in the presence of mayor Tamura of Hachimantai, Lyall Fields (Green Harvest Pascific Ltd), Ron Hoogeveen (CNB New Plants) and the Japanese press.
Hoogeveen: “We are very proud to be working with the breeder of Ashiro Rindo. The new Ashiro Rindo potted Gentiana varieties are an amazing upgrade of the current available range. There really are a few gems included in the selection. We are very excited about what’s to come and over the next few years, we will be adding several beautiful colours to the currently narrow range of Gentianas.”
As authorised representative of the breeder, CNB New Plants is authorised to give out sublicenses to growers. New varieties will be introduced to the market under the laws of Plant Variety Rights.
